So you think you know everything about the movie, ELF?

The lead role was originally offered to Jim Carrey
 who turned it down.

The actor who played Ralphie in ‘A Christmas Story’ appears as an elf
.  He had an uncredited cameo as one of the supervising elves in Santa's workshop.

The director came up with the brilliant idea to use characters from classic Christmas specials and they were filmed in stop-motion animation mode.

The elf costumes are exact replicas of the elf costumes from ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’

Will

Ferrell’s jumpy reactions to the laughing clowns were genuine.

The very last jack-in-the-box was controlled by
the director
off-stage by remote control.
H
e wanted to wait until Ferrell thought it wouldn’t jump out to get the right scare out of him for the scene.

The voice of Brain on ‘Animaniacs’ had an uncredited role as Buddy’s 12-second burp
.

Ferrell suffered from headaches and a lack of sleep from eating all the sugar
.

T
he director
used an old movie trick called “forced perspective” to make the elves appear smaller in the presence of Ferrell
.
Some of the workshop sets had to be built twice so Ferrell would appear bigger than the elves while they stood on a separate platform in the larger sets. The right lighting helped blend the two scenes together on film.

Will Ferrell turned down a huge chunk of money to do ‘Elf 2′
.

Ferrell said in an interview just before ‘Elf’ was released that he actually played Santa in an outdoor shopping mall
.

Let's have some TV fun-facts and
forget about the election ... for just awhile, aye?

Full House - There are two staircases shown downstairs — one in the kitchen and one in the family room — but only one stair entryway upstairs!

Saturday Night Live -- When the show first started, another show was called “Saturday Night Live,” hence the iconic opening line being worded, “Live from New York, it’s ‘Saturday Night.’”

The Simpsons- Marge was originally supposed to have bunny ears underneath her blue hair.

The Bachelor & The Bachelorette --  "The Biggest Loser” has produced more successful marriages than “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” combined.

Lucy and Ricky's Bedroom Had Two Jobs --  All the set designer's had to do was swap out some furniture, and the Ricardos' bedroom became the Mertz living room (a common cost-saving TV trick).

Play Ball... with MORALES!

Who planted the ivy on the outfield wall at Wrigley?  -- Former Cubs front-office assistant Bill Veeck (who later owned the White Sox) planted the ivy in 1937, the same year the bleachers and scoreboard were built.

What happens if a ball lands in the ivy and gets stuck there? -- The batter is awarded a ground-rule double.

What took so long for the Cubs to install lights at Wrigley? -- Former owner P.K. Wrigley planned to install lights for the 1942 season but instead donated the fixtures to a shipyard for the war effort on the day after Pearl Harbor was attacked.

There's a flag on the roof of Wrigley that says "Hack 191." What does that mean?  -- It commemorates Hack Wilson's 191 runs batted in during the 1930 season, a major-league record that still stands.

There's a sign on one of the rooftops beyond right field reading "EAMUS CATULI!" and then another sign with letters and numbers. What do those signs mean?  -- "Eamus catuli" is an imperfect Latin translation of "Go Cubs." The other sign starts with “AC,” which means "anno catuli" -- Cubs time. The first numbers indicate years since the Cubs won a division title (that gets reset to 00 now). The next numbers indicate years since the Cubs last won a National League pennant (71); and the final numbers indicate years since the Cubs have won a World Series title (108). If the Cubs win the 2016 World Series, the sign will read "AC000000" on Opening Day in 2017.

What should you do if you catch an opponent's home run ball in the bleachers?  -- Throw it back onto the field, or ask security for an escort out of the park.

How many Cubs teams have reached the postseason?  --Counting this year, it's 18. They've appeared in 10 World Series (1906, 1907, 1908, 1910, 1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938 and 1945) but won only two (1907 and 1908). They have qualified for the National League playoffs eight times (1984, 1989, 1998, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2015 and 2016).

What's the Curse of the Billy Goat?  -- It started during the 1945 World Series, which pitted the Cubs against the Detroit Tigers. The Cubs refused to let Billy Goat Tavern owner William Sianis bring his lucky goat inside Wrigley Field for Game 4. An angry Sianis declared that the Cubs would never win a World Series again.

It might be. It could be. It is! A Home Run!...with MOOrales!

The BEST random things about April
...
  • The first full month of Spring.
  • Earth Day, April 22 -- an honest reminder to be appreciative/respectful to the ground and beaches we walk on and to the trees we sleep under.
  • Record Store Day, April 20 -- a day to support your local music provider.  And for some of you, there is another celebration that coincides with "420."  I'll let you figure that one out on your own.
  • International Pillow-Fight Day, April 6 -- today is the day you  have a reason to more or less knock someone’s lights out in the office with a pillow.
  • National Wear Pajamas to Work Day, April 18 -- it's too bad that this day doesn't land on Pillow Fight Day.
  • Take Sons and Daughters to Work Day, April 25.
  • World Autism Awareness Day, April 2 -- a day to bring awareness to those who struggle with it.
  • Arbor Day, April 27 -- plant a tree for Mother Earth
  • April Fools, April 1 -- Try not to look completely foolish when someone pranks you.
  • Husband Appreciation Day, April 20 --  since it’s not a commercially successful holiday, odds are you’ll just end up on the couch all day.
  • and the Number One reason that April is awesome-- Baseball Returns!!  "America’s Pastime" is back.
